AI for Credit, Underwriting & Collections

Credit is where AI is judged most strictly: by the risk committee, by the regulator and by the customer who was declined. Eurisko builds credit, underwriting and collections use cases that hold up under all three: interpretable creditworthiness models on alternative data, credit limit recommendation, delinquency early warning, collections next-best action, affordability inference from statements and underwriting document intelligence, for banks, consumer-finance companies, buy-now-pay-later providers and microfinance lenders across the GCC, the wider Middle East and Lebanon.

Every score comes with reason codes, every model with calibration and fairness diagnostics, and every customer-facing explanation is generated from approved policy language, so decisions remain explainable to analysts, auditors and the people they affect.

Overview

Interpretable by design, because the regulator will ask.

Lenders in the region are extending credit to segments the bureau files describe thinly: new residents, gig workers, young nationals, small merchants and first-time borrowers. Decisions on these customers depend on cash-flow behaviour, bill regularity and repayment patterns, and the models that read them must be explainable, calibrated and demonstrably fair.

Eurisko builds these models as interpretable risk systems rather than black boxes: features a credit officer recognises, score bands with a visible value-versus-risk trade-off, reason codes for every decision and a fairness report across segments. The same discipline runs through underwriting automation and collections.

What ships is a decision-support layer for your credit policy, not a replacement for it: the officer, the policy and the override remain in control, with the AI making every case faster and better documented.

Use cases

Eight credit use cases, from application to recovery.

Each one is scoped as a decision-support capability with analyst review, calibration and reason codes built in from the first prototype.

Alternative-data creditworthiness

An interpretable risk model built from income stability, bill regularity, cash-flow resilience and repayment behaviour, with calibration, reason codes and fairness diagnostics so thin-file customers can be assessed responsibly.

Credit limit recommendation

Estimates sustainable borrowing capacity and expected risk, then recommends a limit range under your portfolio policies, making the value-versus-risk trade-off visible rather than returning a single opaque number.

Delinquency early warning

Detects deterioration in cash flow, utilization, repayment and engagement before a payment is missed, and builds a prioritized early-intervention queue with the main contributing factors.

Collections next-best action

Estimates how each treatment option affects payment, cost and customer experience for a delinquent account, recommends the most appropriate step and drafts a compliant message.

Promise-to-pay probability & follow-up

Scores the likelihood and timing of a promised payment from prior commitments, behaviour and contact history, so collectors follow up where it matters and leave reliable customers alone.

Income & affordability from statements

Reads statements in PDF or spreadsheet form, identifies recurring income and commitments and produces an affordability view with confidence, reconciliation checks and evidence traceable to source lines.

Underwriting document intelligence

Classifies application documents, extracts key fields, validates completeness and produces an underwriter-ready summary with every fact linked back to its page.

Responsible lending explainability

Converts technical decision outputs into explanation layers for analysts, customers and auditors, with controlled generation that keeps every statement tied to approved reasons and policy wording.

How it works

From statement to decision, with evidence at every step.

Underwriting automation and early warning share one pipeline. Documents and data feeds are ingested and reconciled; recurring income, commitments and behavioural features are derived; interpretable models score risk and capacity; policy rules and explainability produce the recommendation, the reason codes and the customer-ready explanation; and an analyst reviews, approves or overrides, with every action logged.

Calibration and fairness are measured as first-class outputs: score distributions by band, stability across segments and the gap diagnostics a model-risk function expects. Thresholds and policies stay editable by your credit team, not buried in code.

For collections the same engine turns around: it scores promise reliability and treatment uplift, prioritizes the queue by risk and value at stake and drafts each message from approved, regulator-compliant templates.

GCC, Middle East & Lebanon

Credit models for the region’s lenders and their supervisors.

Credit decisioning in the Gulf is supervised closely: the Saudi Central Bank, the Central Bank of the UAE, the Central Bank of Kuwait and the Central Bank of Oman set rules on responsible lending, consumer protection, buy-now-pay-later and model governance, and credit bureaus anchor the data. Our models are built to be documented, validated and explained in the format those supervisors expect.

Regional portfolios also carry signals worth modelling well: salary transfers as the primary affordability evidence, end-of-service and allowance structures, Sharia-compliant product behaviour, and in Lebanon, multi-currency repayment and cash-based income that statements capture only partly. We design features with your credit team so the model reflects how your customers actually earn and pay.

How we work

A process built on evidence.

Discovery & success metrics

A workshop with the business owner, the data owner and the technology lead fixes the decision to improve and the number that proves it.

Data readiness

We profile the sample, masked or synthetic, and say plainly what it can and cannot support before anything is built.

Prototype

Model, prompt, retrieval or optimization logic plus a working demo your team can click through, not a slide.

Evaluate & play back

Accuracy, groundedness, fairness and cost are measured against an agreed test set and reported with their limitations.

Productionize

Integration, security review, MLOps and monitoring inside your perimeter, scoped only once the evidence supports it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Will the regulator accept an AI credit model?

Supervisors in the region accept models they can inspect. We build interpretable models with documented features, calibration, stability and fairness reports, reason codes and an audit trail, and we keep the final decision with your policy and your officers. That is the package a model-risk review expects.

Can we assess customers with no credit bureau history?

Yes. Consented transaction data, income regularity and bill behaviour give a reliable picture of affordability and resilience for thin-file customers. We start in a sandbox mode that reports calibration and fairness before any decision is automated.

How do you keep collections messages compliant?

Messages are generated from approved templates and policy language with controlled generation, so tone, timing and content stay within your consumer-protection obligations. Every draft is reviewable, and contact rules such as frequency caps are modelled explicitly.

What data do we need for a first prototype?

A masked sample of six to twelve months of transactions or statements, repayment history, current limits and utilization, and historic outcomes where they exist. Synthetic data can cover sensitive segments or rare events.

Does our data have to leave the country or our data centre?

No. For banks, telecoms and government entities in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Lebanon we deploy inside your private cloud or on-premises, use open-weight models when data cannot leave the perimeter, and start with masked or synthetic samples so no customer record is needed to prove the idea.

Where do we start if we want more than one use case?

Pick a small portfolio rather than isolated ideas: one quick win, one strategic differentiator and one operational efficiency case, ideally sharing one data foundation and one evaluation framework. We run a short selection workshop with your business, data and technology leads to shortlist by value and data readiness.
